Hi All – Please be very careful. Just want to share a few things that have happened concerning the Ledger hack. I've recently had 4 attempts from 4 different countries where people are trying to sync their devices to my email that Ledger let be stolen and a few hrs ago someone tried to open a coinbase account using my stolen email. Thanks so much Ledger for being sooooooooo sloppy with our info. BE VERY CAREFUL

I was considering ordering a ledger, I might wait up a bit.
I'm very lucky because I had my ledger shipped to my storage unit and not my home address. I also spoke with my wireless provider today for advice on protecting myself from a sim swap in case my phone number had been leaked, to make sure I'm secure there. Over the past 24 hours I've learned more than a little bit about beefing up my security. Take nothing for granted. I watched the video on Andreas Antonoupolos's channel today and I feel better.
Hey Rob – Big thanks to both you and Bearable B for covering the Ledger issue. I've very technical and said to myself okay they can't get my digital assets however I was super pissed about my other info floating around out there and I too and waiting to hear back from Ledger. Also I will no longer be calling aka D.A.N. because I'm back to being a grown up.
Hell its not just ledger, I just got an email saying it was from Coinbase saying they needed to confirm my email . Didn't even open.. so please beware!!! Its a very sad world.

I think your video is pretty much spot on. This is not a compromise that’s going to hurt you unless you’re foolish enough to click on one of those fishing emails.
Ledger just hook everyone up with a few Satoshis and all will be forgiven.
Just buy a second phone and put your wallets on it then bury it. Ledgers too much hassle.

maybe I have foolish confidence, but if the danger is no more than you say, that doesn't bother me too much. My address is on the public record and can be easily gotten as well as my email address. I'm accustomed to scam emails and texts. If someone said they were going to come to my house and work me over with a wrench if I didn't send them btc, I would say "Please, do come. I have a pleasant surprise waiting for you". I'm not trying to sound like a badass, but that would just so completely infuriate me.

I got phished out of 1.5 BTC and 3 ETH because of this compromise. To say that it is safe is just untrue. They will have to do a lot to get back customers whose information is compromised.

I'm really worried about all the KYC information we are forced to give on all the exchanges. No way those databases will never be hacked. That'll be a whole lot worse … fake id's, fake passports, you getting stop at customs for a case of mistaken identity … joy ;(

Thanks for a common sense view. I think Ledger need to address the issue or they will lose more customers. Unfortunately we don't have a right to defend ourselves in the same way as you have in Texas, as I would be very happy to show a bad actor how badly I take to threats. I agree people need to think and then make sure they are doing the right things to keep their information safe and secure. I think the ledger device security is great and it is a shame they exposed people's personal data which is very important to people feeling safe. Keep up the great videos and work.
Thanks for the update. I'm sorry but if any company is TOLD to collect info for things like kyc, or collect it as part of ad revenue and they can't keep it safe then it falls to them. Now we know how much our info is worth yet we are told to give it away for free while the bad guys benefit. When are the good guys going to be given a break? I'm not evading taxes, never have ! Much to my displeasure! Lol but I don't feel happy with companies/gov etc telling me to show my belly to the knife when they can't guarantee my safety. this will only get worse as we move more into a digital world. Just for those scared, you can add an alias to most email accounts.
Create one, update all your services to use that new address.
Then create a rule to store all emails sent to your previous address to a special archive folder.
I’m not concerned one bit but if you are, there’s a way to change your email without signing up to a new service.

Deal with it just like you’ve been doing for decades.
Also, scammers are lazy by definition. They want low risk for maximum cash.

Dan, thats 3 strikes and they are OUT! I hope you wont be advertising them anymore. My friend had $12K worth of BTC and ETH stolen from his Ledger. I've stopped using Ledger and stick with Trezor. Ledger has awful customer service and always deny any wrongdoing by default. I hope someone brings a class action against them.
Ledger is a joke.., No way I'm keeping any of my coins there.
